Privacy Policy

Last updated: 15 May 2026 · Applies to drbansalgastro.com

This policy explains, in plain language, what information this website collects, why, how long it is kept, who it is shared with, and the choices and rights you have. It is written to align with India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act) and the principles of the EU/UK GDPR. We do not sell your data and we do not use intrusive tracking.

What this policy covers — and what it does not

This policy covers information handled through this website only — for example, an appointment enquiry you submit, or anonymous usage statistics.

It does not cover the confidential medical records created when you are seen as a patient at the clinic or hospital. Those clinical records are governed separately by medical-records confidentiality, professional duties of a registered medical practitioner, and the policies of the treating facility. Please do not send detailed medical history, reports, or images through website forms — bring them to your consultation instead.

Information we collect

We try to collect as little as possible. Specifically:

  • Appointment / contact enquiries: the name, phone number, preferred location, reason for visit and preferred date/time you choose to provide so the clinic can respond. If you use the WhatsApp option, your message is sent through WhatsApp using your own WhatsApp account.
  • Technical data: standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested, date/time) generated automatically by the web host for security and reliability.
  • Analytics data (only with consent): if — and only if — you accept analytics in the cookie banner, anonymised, aggregated usage data (such as which pages are read) may be collected. This is off by default.

We do not run advertising trackers, we do not build marketing profiles, and we do not sell or rent any data.

How we use your information

  • To respond to your appointment or contact request and arrange care.
  • To keep the website secure, available and working correctly.
  • To understand, in aggregate, how patients use the site so the information can be improved — only if you have consented to analytics.
  • To meet legal, regulatory or record-keeping obligations.

We do not use your contact details for unsolicited marketing.

Legal basis for processing

Under the DPDP Act 2023 and GDPR principles, we rely on:

  • Your consent — when you submit an enquiry, and for any analytics cookies.
  • Legitimate interests / legitimate use — keeping the website secure and operational.
  • Legal obligation — where retention or disclosure is required by law.

Cookies & analytics

By default this site sets only one essential first-party cookie that remembers your cookie choice so you are not asked repeatedly. No analytics or marketing cookies run unless you actively allow them. We use Google Consent Mode v2 set to "denied" by default, so any future analytics stays switched off until you opt in. Full detail — including how to change your mind at any time — is in the Cookie Policy. You can manage your preferences here.

Third-party services

We keep third parties to a minimum:

  • Web hosting: the site is hosted on a commercial server that processes standard request logs to deliver pages.
  • WhatsApp / phone / email: if you choose to contact the practice this way, the relevant provider (Meta / your telecom provider / your email provider) processes that communication under its own terms.
  • YouTube (privacy-enhanced): educational videos are embedded using youtube-nocookie.com and load only after you click play, which reduces data sharing until you choose to watch.
  • Google Analytics: not active by default. If enabled in future it will run only after you consent, with IP anonymisation.

These providers operate under their own privacy policies; we recommend reviewing them.

How long we keep data

  • Enquiries: kept only as long as needed to respond and for reasonable follow-up or record-keeping, then deleted or archived securely.
  • Server logs: retained for a limited period for security, then rotated/deleted.
  • Cookie-consent cookie: stored for up to 180 days, after which you are asked again.

Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you may:

  • Ask what personal data we hold about you and request a copy.
  • Ask us to correct or update inaccurate data.
  • Ask us to erase data we no longer need to keep.
  • Withdraw consent (including cookie consent) at any time, without affecting prior lawful processing.
  • Raise a grievance with us, and, where applicable, with the Data Protection Board of India (DPDP Act 2023) or your local supervisory authority (GDPR).

To exercise any right, contact us using the details below. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.

Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information — including HTTPS encryption in transit, restricted access to enquiry data, and a server configuration that blocks direct access to internal files and data folders. However, no website or internet transmission can be guaranteed 100% secure, so please avoid sending highly sensitive medical detail through web forms.

Children

This website is intended for a general adult audience seeking health information and is not directed at children. Where a patient is a minor, enquiries should be made by a parent or legal guardian, consistent with the DPDP Act 2023 provisions on children's data.
